If you caught one of our recent roadshows in Blighty, you may have heard us speak about some of our Soup Kitchen regulars being Bin Dippers. This was not a derogatory reference to an '80s football chant, but rather about many of the poorer local guys actually choosing to rummage through people's bins on bin day with the aim of collecting enough recyclable scrap to trade for cash.
We've never attempted to photograph any of theses folks in action on bin day, but since getting home, we decided to get a video doorbell, and as such have been able to capture some footage of this desperate pursuit.
I have to say even we were shocked by the final bit of this video in which a woman with a child are seen going through the bin and scoring some of the later additions to it before the binmen collected it.
