Today's particular obstacle was perhaps the strangest to overcome...
The water in Firgrove had been off since 6pm the previous night and it still wasn't on at 11am when I needed 100 litres of water to get ready making the soup.
So after a quick call to a church member on the other side of the community where the water was still on, I loaded up our two biggest pans in the back of my car and used their hose pipe to three-quarter fill the pans and then drive back to our building very slowly!
Together with the two hours of loadshedding over lunchtime, it made for a fairly typical day here in South Africa.
