Initially we only had the small punchbag, but a bit later we were able to get hold of a proper 50kg heavy punchbag and that made a world of difference to our home boxing sessions.
Besides the heavy bag, we have the smaller punchbag which now serves as an uppercut bag. We have a speedball which is brilliant and a number of other items such as skipping ropes (a boxer's best friend), agility ladder, weights, sit-up bench etc etc.A recent addition to the home gym is Eli's treadmill which he very graciously allows us to use. A while ago he traded in his computer for it as he set off on his adventure to get fit, in which he has done stunningly well!
Anyway, Paula & I have both made good use of the treadmill and love having it as part of the home gym. We don't use the home gym as much as we probably should, but it has been useful for all of us, even for Paula & Eli who don't box, because much of the equipment we've got is interchangeable across different disciplines with quite a bit being used for CrossFit too.Me on the treadmill with my broken arm back in late October '21.

We stay in a condominium that has a gym and it served the purpose even during the pandemic . It seems a good idea to have a work out zone at home if space is not a constraint .. a treadmill, some weights and punching bags as you mentioned !

The closest thing we have to a home gym is our stairs on which I make many trips each day, Otherwise, I've never been much one for exercise. I do enjoy walking--when I do it.

Tossing It Out
I am not a boxer, but I do enjoy a good walk.
ReplyDeleteWe are working on setting up something here. It's so hard because I don't like it on the second floor, but finishing off our basement would be expensive. My dance barre, yoga mats, and weights are up here now. The treadmill remains unplugged in the basement.

Working out at home is what works best for me -- mostly walks from my front door and the whole variety of videos on YouTube.
